I just had my 6-month review with Dr. Blitz, and everything with my feet is great. As usual. That’s the beauty of surgery with Dr. Blitz, Dr. Seidel, Linda, and the rest of his dream team: it has all been exquisitely uneventful. My feet were deformed my whole life. I had severe bunions from an early age, with toes that curled in every direction. By 62, I was in chronic pain and limping through the winter. I knew it was time. And I knew there was only one surgeon I could trust. My friend Judy had her bunions done by Dr. Blitz ten years ago. She’s an athlete—double-black-diamond skier, the works—so her feet had to be perfect. Her first bilateral bunion surgery in Calgary was a disaster. Determined not to make the same mistake twice, she conducted extensive research and found that people worldwide were raving about Dr. Blitz. She flew from Canada to New York, had both bunions repaired at the same time, walked onto the plane days later, and never looked back. For me, it was Dr. Blitz or no surgery at all.Last March, I woke up in unbearable pain and decided enough was enough. I contacted Dr. Blitz’s office, where Linda (a gem) guided me through the process. That very day, I spoke with Dr. Blitz and his team. By chance, they had an opening in Los Angeles two weeks later. My husband’s work schedule was packed, so I had two choices: wait months or go alone. I chose to go. Two weeks later, I flew to Beverly Hills by myself. Two days after landing, I had both bunions corrected and all ten toes realigned. You need to understand: I am not particularly brave. But the surgery was smooth and quick. I woke up with ten straight toes. I could stand and use the washroom that same day. I even managed my first night alone in the hotel without a problem.Of course, life threw me a curveball. Three days later, the bottom of the TV unit in my hotel room collapsed—right onto my newly operated foot. I raced for X-rays, terrified… and my toe was still perfect. That’s solid work. Days later, I accidentally soaked the same foot. (I know, I know.) Incredibly, Dr. Blitz flew back, just to re-bandage it. That’s not just surgical skill—that’s care. And when he re-dressed my foot, I saw how tiny the incisions were, already healing beautifully.Five days after surgery, I flew home to Canada—walking onto the plane by myself. Since then, everything has been smooth. Minimal pain (Tylenol only after a few days), no complications, little swelling. At six months, my feet are as straight and strong as the day I stepped off Dr. Blitz’s table. The before-and-after photos speak volumes, but I wanted to share my story because there are so many frightening accounts out there. Mine isn’t one of them. My whole life, I was ashamed of my feet. I didn't even get a pedicure for my wedding because I was too embarrassed. Now, for the first time, I have beautiful feet—and beautifully manicured toes I’m proud to show off in sandals.Exquisitely uneventful. In the very best way.
